David Rees Gets His War On

Want to give a shout out to David Rees, the hilarious and erudite cartoonist behind Get Your War On, My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable, and My New Filing Technique Is Unstoppable. Was struggling to find some bland clip art images as inspiration for the Second Illustrated Song section of Pop Zeus and I immediately thought of Rees' work.

The idea of outrageous dialogue coming out of the expressionless and hopelessly generic figures found in clip art and powerpoint presentations is pure genius. And Rees' comic strip began right after September 11th, 2001 when everyone was afraid to speak their minds and humor was understandably at an all-time low. Get Your War On was a wake up bomb for America- someone finally saying what everyone was thinking. The power of satire and comedy cannot be understated, especially in times of war and crisis. So I send a random email last week to Mr. Rees asking for his help. He graciously replied and steered me in the right direction. Thanks David, you rock!
